Getting Started with Bash Engineering

Put the engineering practices in this book to work with my FREE Bash Engineering Starter Kit.

The starter kit is a versioned archive of a Bash project designed for adaptation to the needs and consequences of your own project. Inside you’ll find:

  • modular Bash source with a Make-based build lifecycle;
  • behavior-oriented Bats tests, static analysis, and formatting configuration;
  • CI, release, documentation, checksum, provenance, and ADR examples; and
  • a scoring rubric for reviewing an existing Bash project and identifying proportionate improvements.

Use the archive as a reference, adapt the portions that fit a new project, or apply the scoring rubric to examine an existing one. As the engineering evolves, updated versions will remain available from the same page.

You’ll also be sent an occasional update and insider news about my new books, talks, videos, and publications.
